Watch: Jon Stewart Comes to Joe Rogan's Defense, Blasts Virtue Signalling Artists
Brodigan - February 04, 2022 at 08:02AM
Add Jon Stewart to the list of Joe Rogan's defenders. Rogan has Stewart and The Rock. Team Deplatforming has David Crosby and the guy who sometimes plays guitar for Bruce Springsteen.
To recap, there is a push to kick Joe Rogan off Spotify over what critics call "misinformation." Stewart knows all about critics calling things "misinformation." He was the victim of it when the media gleefully reported Stewart attacked JK Rowling . He was also accused of spreading it when he made the mistake of telling a joke about the coronavirus . Stewart addressed the Spotify palooza on his podcast. It's a long clip, but listening to things in full context is one of the points the comedian makes.

Side note: Have we rated Jon Stewart's room yet? His decor is excellent.
Stewart makes two key points. First, Rogan is a reasonable person who has four-hour conversations with a diverse group of voices. He's not actively looking to spread "misinformation" or trying to kill people as he's accused of doing by CNN and other haters. Does Rogan get things wrong? Sure. He admits to mistakes when he makes them. The idea that Joe Rogan is diabolical in how he tries to manipulate information is ludicrous.
The other point is how far these artists are willing to go to signal their virtue. Joe Rogan and Spotify are the news-entertainment industrial complex's new boogeymen. They're 2022's Trump. You get points when you attack Rogan and Spotify. You're lauded as brave when you say you won't be on the same platform as someone who spreads "misinformation." What about other platforms? Will you leave your record label? Will you refuse to be employed by any company that owns a cable channel that spreads "misinformation"? How far does it go? My guess is only as far as this week.
I will say, though, Stewart bringing up Fox News is tired. Not the same week we found how the President of CNN was coaching the Governor of New York in his press briefings . Then having CNN praise how well Cuomo was doing in those press briefings. Then having Cuomo's idiot brother yucking it up with him in primetime. There was an entire media misinformation campaign started when an activist tweeted an out-of-context photo of a border agent that made it all the way to Joe Biden attacking his border patrol. And when CNN creates content about Joe Rogan "spreading misinformation"! They have spread misinformation about Joe Rogan on multiple occasions . Just saying. Fox News doesn't fly as the go-to boogeyman these days.
Take Fox out of the equation, Stewart's take is spot on. If you have a problem with the "misinformation" Rogan is spreading, engage with him. Rogan put it out there: He is going to try to have more voices on. Let's see Neil Young or any of the other artists accusing Rogan of "misinformation" discuss it with him. Let's see Brian Stelter have a conversation with Rogan about why he thinks Rogan is bad for America.
The rub is doing so would require people to define what "misinformation" is exactly, and they have difficulty doing so. That word gets thrown around with either no examples or endless hypotheticals. The irony is the one time I heard a doctor discuss specific examples of what she said was "misinformation" about vaccines, she was being interviewed by Joe Rogan.
