How do you cover up that you’ve managed to fail at your largest campaign promise? Well, if you’re Biden, you just stop having your administration collect the numbers that prove it.
Breitbart reports that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will no longer have hospitals report COVID death numbers as of last week. The plan to stop having deaths reported was created in January—which makes sense seeing as how Biden would want these numbers to stop coming in quickly.
BREAKING\n\nUS Government to end daily COVID death reporting \n\nA document issued issued Jan 6 by the US Health and Human Services tells hospitals they are no longer required to report daily COVID-19 deaths to the federal government starting Feb 2.\n\nStory broken by @DataDrivenMDpic.twitter.com/jpxQi2yItZ— Andre Damon (@Andre Damon) 1642187992
Instead of having hospitals reports their numbers directly to HHS, the data will be collected by each state from coroners’ reports and gathered by the CDC. One federal official is not happy about the change, though, calling the change “incomprehensible.”
“Deaths are reported by the counties/states but the process is very slow and many coroners are actually not wanting to cite COVID as the reason, while hospitals rely on diagnoses.”
Yeah, but there’s reason to believe COVID diagnoses in hospitals have been incredibly inflated for a number of reasons.
It looks as if there are several competing priorities here. Biden would rather these numbers disappear. They make him look bad, and his approval numbers continue to tank due, at least in part, to his handling of COVID. The health officials, though, have become accustomed to having a new level of power, and they probably don’t want to let go of that just yet—or ever.
