It's astounding we are still arguing about school mask mandates. On one side is most of America. On the other is Joe Biden, some public school boards, and the teachers' unions who give both lots and lots of money. America's Governor Ron DeSantis was one of the first to pass a law saying that masks couldn't be forced on students, that it should be a decision made by parents. School boards get cranky when parents have an opinion, so they ignored the law. Now, DeSantis suggests they might want to lawyer up.

America's Governor mentioned how the Florida legislature wanted to financially penalize school districts that ignored the law and forced school mask mandates on children anyway. DeSantis's compromise?
"Rather than take money that may penalize a teacher or student because of the actions of some union-controlled school board member, my view would be, let's not do that. But what you could do is say that any parent whose kid was illegally forced masked this year [...] they should have the right to sue if their kids have any negative effects of it: if they have speech problems, if they have emotional problems, physical problems; they [the union-controlled school boards] flouted the law and they should be liable for the consequences of their actions."
As I said, it's astounding we're still having this argument. Ron DeSantis, last August, called out Joe Biden's obsession with masking children. Joe Biden, last... um, yesterday, quadrupled down on his obsession. He said during his Super Bowl interview, watched by parents, that he thinks whatever the CDC and "the government guys" tell him to think. The President of the United States actually said "the government guys."
Only one of the two men is on the right side of history. And it's the guy who will hopefully be debating Biden three times in the fall of 2024.
