Remember the frequent talking point among skeptics that "it's not about the virus" as you watch Oregon Governor Katie Brown acknowledge to ABC News the threats and impacts of climate change are as much a public health emergency as COVID is.

Except <a data-linked-post="2654657870" href="https://www.louderwithcrowder.com/joe-biden-interstate-travel" target="_blank">Joe Biden</a> likely agrees, so if you think this kind of insanity is limited to the left coast, get your head examined. A lot of people in Oregon didn't vote for this as a lot of you didn't vote for Biden. And yet here we are. "Yeah but the state's wildfires are a problem and COVID is a problem, so what's the problem?" The problem is that very stance: ceding rights to government over "problems." Often problems that government helped to create. Forest fires and even droughts can be alleviated with a general understanding of how nature works. In the former, smaller controlled burns otherwise known as simple forest management, help clear the underbrush in forests and thus prevent wildfires from getting too hot to burn out of control. Dams and reservoirs go a long way during El Nino years to bank up water for seasons of drought. Similarly, once a virus is out, there's no stopping it, as much as you'd like to think your dirty face rag and Netflix binging is "saving lives." Lol at you. "You've used the slippery slope argument too much, it's not going to happen." But it is happening. Government used the COVID pandemic to shove through draconian measures too many people are more than happy to comply with in order to feel safe. Already liberals have suggested <a data-linked-post="2645842370" href="https://www.louderwithcrowder.com/watch-andrew-yang-wants-a-mandatory-buyback-for-cars" target="_blank">doing away with certain cars</a> and even the <a data-linked-post="2645842371" href="https://www.louderwithcrowder.com/watch-kamala-harris-wants-to-regulate-your-meat" target="_blank">consumption of meat</a> in order to "save the planet" from climate change. It's not that the slope is slippery so much as we're already sliding down it and haven't yet hit the bottom nor reached terminal velocity.
