Chicago is a cesspool, and its teachers’ union is a giant pile of sh*t. Case and point, the Chicago Teachers’ Union (CTU) voted Tuesday to return to remote learning, citing fears over the surge in omicron cases. The Washington Examiner reports that the vote passed with 73% of these lowlifes voting against in-person teaching.
The vote resulted in schools being canceled throughout the Chicago Public Schools system today, and possibly for longer.
UPDATE ON 1/5 CLASSES: Due to the Chicago Teachers Union voting to not report to schools tomorrow, there will be no in-person or remote instruction for CPS students tomorrow, January 5th. All after school programs, athletic practices, and other events are also canceled. (1/2)pic.twitter.com/pOf3lznyUM— CPS - Chicago Public Schools (@CPS - Chicago Public Schools) 1641360872
For her part, Mayor Lori “Beatlejuice” Lightfoot all but begged the union to come back to the table to make a deal without disrupting the education of students, but the union basically told her to kick rocks.
The teachers’ unions hold immeasurable power within the government on every level: local, state, and federal. It’s no surprise that these lazy tax-leeches have chosen to do what they want, blaming omicron even though school children have never been a significant vector of transmission, and omicron has proven itself to be roughly as bad as a common cold or flu.
If the teachers don’t want to work, or if they want to do the minimum amount of work and collect the same or more of your taxpayer dollars, you best believe they are going to get away with it. All the more reason to pull your children from the public schools.
