Official Proposes ‘Kyle’s Law,’ Inspired by Kyle Rittenhouse, to Protect People From ‘Malicious Prosecutions’

In the wake of the Rittenhouse Trial in November, many lawmakers have floated the idea of laws to protect citizens who kill criminals in acts of self-defense. If you don’t remember, Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty after shooting three rioters who attacked him during super-duper “peaceful protests” in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The problem was that everyone knew it was self-defense from the beginning. We knew. You knew. The damned ADA in Kenosha knew!

To prevent this from happening again or, at least, to make it right if it happens again, Tennessee State Representative Bruce Griffey has introduced a law that would require “the state of Tennessee to reimburse legal fees and court costs for individuals prosecuted for murder and acquitted on self-defense.” The bill is aptly titled “Kyle’s Law.”

And this isn’t the only bill of its kind being introduced around the country. In Oklahoma, State Senator Nathan Dahm has introduced similar legislation that would reimburse “los[t] wages, legal fees incurred, and other expenses involved in their defense.”

These laws would go a long way to dissuading the state from prosecuting individuals involved in self-defense instances that leave criminals lying dead on the ground.

In addition to these laws, Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced a National Stand You Ground Act at the federal level.

These laws should be everywhere. There should never be anything remotely criminal about blowing away someone who’s attacking you, and all criminals should know that they are taking their lives in their hands each time they attempt to commit a crime.
