Viral Video Shows American Airlines Booting Family Because 2-yr-old Didn't Wear Mask. Is That the Whole Story?

A young family was allegedly booted from an American Airlines flight because an asthmatic 2-year-old, with a negative COVID test, wouldn't wear a mask. Reminder: he's two. Second reminder: he has asthma. But there might be more to this story than meets the eye.

Looks pretty bad. But American Airlines responded, saying there was more to the story:

A spokesman from American Airlines confirmed to MarketWatch that AA Flight 1284 was returned to the gate, and that Pendarvis' party had to deplane for "refusing to comply with crew member instructions to remain seated while on an active taxiway and to wear face coverings securely over their nose and mouth." They were rebooked for another flight, and there were no fees associated with the rebooking, the airline said.

"After observing a minor in the party laying in the aisle and moving between seats on taxi out, our flight crew made multiple attempts to reinforce safety requirements," he continued. "While addressing the party, our crew also reminded the individuals in the party that federal directives require customers to wear a face covering at all times while on board unless actively eating or drinking."

Let's discuss.

Forcing masks onto children is criminal. I hate it. And if American Airlines only forced this family off the plane due to the mask issue, they can go to hell. But it sounds like maybe mom couldn't get her kid seated for take off. Hey, he's two. Anytime I see parents flying with kids, my uterus shrivels up. But still. He needs to be seated in his own seat for take off and landing. That's for everyone's safety. Some kids aren't ready for the annoying rules of flying, and maybe this kid just wasn't at this moment.

What we have here is a case of multiple things can be true at once.

ONE: COVID-cultists think they're better than everyone else. They're exercising control over everyone else. They like it. They like seeing any excuse to flex that power. These people do not care about you or your children. They care about their control, exercising it and keeping it. Okay? Okay.

TWO: when the plane is moving, sit your ass down. Put your tray up. Your seat up. Put your phone in airplane mode. Stop playing games on your phone or watching a movie without earphones. I hate you people more than I hate COVID. Put your damn seatbelt on. As you all know, I hate face masks. I think they're stupid and useless. But a hatred of masks is not at all related to allowing a toddler to lay in the aisle of an airplane. At take off he needs to be in his seat. Everyone needs to be in their seat. "The rules for thee, not for me" do not just apply to elites.

I've flown a lot. The worst thing about air travel is traveling with other passengers who don't bother with following safety rules that are safety rules for good reason. Or you people who stand up and get in the aisle as soon as the plane lands. Did your mother hurt you as a child? What's that about?

Masks are stupid. I will protest those right along side of you. But if you can't sit down for take off and landing, it's going to be hard for me to fight the battle with you.
