Pro-tip: If you're an Amazon driver with anger management issues or otherwise having a bad day, assaulting old ladies is never a good idea. Everyone has those Ring video cameras now.
Our story goes a little something like this. The woman got a notification that her package was delivered, so she went to the lobby to get it. The Amazon Driver said it wasn't ready yet. So the woman hangs out in the lobby for fifteen minutes before asking again. Here's where the vicious assault takes place. The video doesn't pick up the audio. But according to an eyewitness to the local news affiliate:
"I believe the Amazon driver said something about 'your white privilege,' and my tenant said, 'You don't need to be a bitch about it,' turned around and walked away," said apartment complex owner Doug Smith
The concept of "white privilege" is a load of bullplop as it is. One thing it's definitely not is expecting your mail to be delivered. That falls under expecting your mail to have been delivered after you were told so. The newly unemployed Amazon driver claims self-defense, and she's free to think so. Being called a b!tch after allegedly acting like one, while not a nice thing to hear, isn't grounds to sucker-punch someone from behind. Over ten times. It just makes you more of a b!tch. Only now you're one who no longer has a job.
Sheriff Sgt. Ray Kelly wants the community to know that they "can't have our delivery drivers or people out there punching people in the face." That's good to know.
