Psychologist for Washington State Patrol Reassigned Over Too Many White People Passing Screenings

Everything is racism. If you don't understand that, it's because of racism. Racism might very well be the unassailable force that moves the entire universe. Before the big bang, racism existed. This is how leftist ideologues think. And I use "think" as loosely as possible.

After the Seattle Times published a piece showing that non-white applicants failed psychological screenings more often than white applicants, Washington State Patrol reassigned the psychologist responsible for performing the screening.

Daniel Clark, who has worked for the Washington State Patrol for 27 years, stated, "I treat everybody as an individual and make my recommendations based on an individual assessment […] Psychologically, I don't believe that there is a bias." It would also be difficult to claim Clark is biased, as he utilizes a nationally used written screening test for all applicants.

There is a disparity between racial groups, though. According to the Seattle Times, 20% of white applicants were rejected in the last four years. Comparatively, black applicants were rejected 33% of the time, Hispanics 35%, and Asians 41%. But as Dr. Thomas Sowell is fond of saying, disparity does not prove discrimination.

As the WSP finds itself short-staffed and suffering from low morale after COVID mandates forced numerous firings, it seems they are looking to beef up the numbers in whatever way they can, and doing so in woke fashion would seem like killing two birds with one stone.

However, ameliorating what they believe to be a grave error in screening can only end in one of two ways (or a combination of the two). Either the Patrol rejects more white applicants who would otherwise be perfect for the job, and/or they accept more minority applicants whose suitability may be questionable. I'm sure these approaches will work out splendidly.

The Washington State Patrol has hired an outside agency to take over screening candidates until at least June 2022, so we'll see how it goes.

Needless to say, if you're still in or around Seattle, I have to wonder why.
