There it is.
"At 4:39 PM, on Sunday, November 21st, 2021, a lone subject intentionally drove his Maroon SUV through barricades into a crowd of people who were celebrating the Waukesha Christmas Parade. Which resulted in killing five individuals, and injuring 48 additional individuals [...] 2 of the 48 are children and are in critical condition. We have information that the suspect prior to the incident was involved in a domestic disturbance which was just minutes prior. And the suspect left that scene just prior to our arrival to that domestic disturbance."
He is being charged with five counts of intentional homicide. Police went on to say Brooks acted alone nad, as of now, there is no evidence of terrorism. Just a guy trying to run down over fifty people with his car.
Some things are unclear. Like, the motive. Why would a multiple-time felon who was angry about the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict intentionally drive his car into a parade full of people? The domestic disturbance *may* have been the "knife fight" we heard he was fleeing. The police officer did say he left the domestic disturbance, and then intentionally drove his SUV into a crowd of people. If he was being chased, I'm assuming that would have been mentioned at the press conference. (UPDATE: There was no pursuit)
What we do know is that it was a mistake to release him on a $1000 cash bond just a few days earlier when he was in jail for a domestic abuse charge. The DA's office is investigating how they screwed that up.
Brooks is being charged with five counts of intentional homicide. But, again, the motive isn't clear. We can all take an educated guess. I just wouldn't want to be spreading misinformation.
