Chicago Dad Beaten to Death While Hanging Up Christmas Lights With His Daughter

Jose Tellez was enjoying a Saturday afternoon, decorating his house for Christmas with his daughter. The day ended with Tellez becoming another statistic in Chicago violence. Two men jumped out of a car and bludgeoned Tellez in the head with unknown blunt objects, before taking off.

You read tragic stories, and there are lines that stick with you. The Chicago Sun-Times wrote about Tellez's neighbor hearing his daughter scream. When the neighbor ran across the street she saw Tellez bleeding from the head, quote, "with Christmas lights still clutched in his hand."
No suspects have been arrested, as of this writing. No motive for the murder is known, either.
There has been a rise in violence in liberal-run cities this year. Violence in Chicago is , unfortunately, nothing new . Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot recently spoke out that local businesses should be doing more to prevent people from committing crimes against them . Earlier in the year, she pushed for a policy that would have police need to ask a suspect for permission to chase them .
