New Zealanders Perform Traditional (and Bad A**) Dance to Tell Government Where to Stick Their Mandates

New Zealand, like its neighbor Australia, has gone nearly entirely authoritarian in an ill-conceived attempt to slow the spread of COVID—or something like that. Lockdowns haven’t worked, and there’s data to show that, but government officials aren’t big on data, science, or really anything outside doing whatever they can do to gain more power.

There’s no telling why people are so upset about New Zealand’s handling of COVID. I mean, they just got permission to use the bathroom outside their own homes—what more could these people want?! A terrible rap song?

But the people aren’t liking their free sample of totalitarianism, and they are ready for the trial to end. These young New Zealanders are demonstrating this with a Haka at a local food court. If this doesn’t get you pumped, I don’t know what will.

I’m a sucker for the Haka. I think it’s amazing. Commonly a ceremonial dance associated with men going into battle, it is performed for several reasons and on numerous different occasions. The New Zealand rugby team All Blacks performs the Haka before matches, and the army has performed the dance for fallen soldiers.

It looks like these young men have extended the use of the Haka further to include telling the government that you’ve had enough of their sh!t.
