The word "Biden Boom" was trending on Twitter yesterday. Funny. The White House holds meetings with the media to get them to improve media coverage. The media tries making "Biden Boom" a thing. Even as inflation hit a 39-year high today. Go figure.
The REAL Biden boom is the sound his approval rating makes as it plummets to the ground. If Biden hasn't pooped his pants yet today, this new CNBC poll will act like a prune smoothie. A lot of data we've seen: Biden only has a 41% approval rating, Americans think he sucks at the economy and handling COVID, etc. Where things start to really get spooky is with congressional preferences. The midterm elections start on January 2nd. And for the first time ever, Republicans have a DOUBLE-DIGIT ADVANTAGE.
Voters want Republicans to take control of Congress by a 44% to 34% margin. That's up eight points since October. It's also six points higher than any advantage the GOP has ever had. To quote one of the pollsters: “If the election were tomorrow, it would be an absolute unmitigated disaster for the Democrats."
Not that voters are bullish on Republicans. This is more a reaction to how much they hate Joe Biden, Joe Biden Democrats, and the Democrats who control Joe Biden. Never underestimate the GOP's ability to screw things up, but if these numbers are accurate, I'd expect to see MANY Democrat retirements next month.
