If there’s one place on the planet I wouldn’t want to contract COVID, it would probably be Australia. I wouldn’t much appreciate being thrown into a quarantine camp against my will like they did to this young woman. But there’s a new crop of young people who are going to be crushed under the Australian jackboot now, as over 100 people who attended the Taylor Swift-themed party have tested positive for COVID.
The New York Post reports that the 600 people who attended the party—Taylor Swift was not present—have been ordered to “get tested and isolate for 7 days” under threat of massive fines from the New South Wales Health.
“Penalties for non-compliance with the isolation, testing and quarantine requirements have increased to $5,000 for individuals (from $1,000), and $10,000 for corporations (from $5,000).”
Australia is experiencing a rise in COVID cases recently. It would seem their draconian lockdown rules, quarantine camp vacations, and tracking applications haven’t been doing the trick to curb the rate of infection.
I’m actually more than a little surprised an event like this one was even allowed to occur. Although, and this is just speculation, I’m sure every person who attended had to show proof of vaccination. That’s just speculation. I wouldn’t want to say the vaccinated can still be infected.
