Boy would I love to be a fly on Senator Rand Paul's wall today. The Intercept, a typical liberal news site which came running to Dr. Fauci's defense back in July after Senator Rand Paul basically called Fauci a liar, published a report Tuesday which further advances the theory that COVID-19 was produced and leaked from a lab in Wuhan. Whether that leak was an accident or not, we obviously can't say. But if you think it, I can't stop you.
From The Intercept:
The bat coronavirus grant provided the EcoHealth Alliance with a total of $3.1 million, including $599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology used in part to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans. Even before the pandemic, many scientists were concerned about the potential dangers associated with such experiments. The grant proposal acknowledges some of those dangers: "Fieldwork involves the highest risk of exposure to SARS or other CoVs, while working in caves with high bat density overhead and the potential for fecal dust to be inhaled."
Full and obvious disclosure for the fact-checkers with red cheeks today: No, I'm not a doctor. No, I'm not a scientist. But I can read. I can deduce. Why spend nearly $600k to identify and alter an animal virus unless you want it to be altered to infect humans? It's already infecting animals, specifically bats. Why else would scientists want to alter it? This question isn't necessarily rhetorical.
Let's break up The Intercept article with this from Richard H. Ebright, who is the Board of Governors Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rutgers.
You got that? The NIH funded this research by EcoHealth "with subcontracts to WIV" which funded gain-of-function research. The NIH director: Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Alina Chan, a molecular biologist at the Broad Institute, said the documents show that the EcoHealth Alliance has reason to take the lab leak theory seriously. "In this proposal, they actually point out that they know how risky this work is. They keep talking about people potentially getting bitten — and they kept records of everyone who got bitten," Chan said. "Does EcoHealth have those records? And if not, how can they possibly rule out a research-related accident?"
A lab leak accident would be bad, sure. No one wants to admit they started this whole thing, even though it's looking more and more like scientists may have started this whole thing. But cute how we spent so much time blaming people buying dead bats at meat markets. Easier to blame bad cuisine than shitty lab practices, am I right?
What few people want to admit is maybe it wasn't an accident. If it wasn't an accident, well then no one would really want to admit it. It's one thing throw up your hands and say "Oops, someone broke a beaker!" than "Let's see how many vaccines we can sell and how deeply we can control people" with the intentional release of an engineered virus. Funded by Fauci. Not that I'm saying the virus was released on purpose. I would never say such a thing. I would think it though. And thoughts are still allowed in America, right? Wait... right?!
Now let's check out Glenn Greenwald, who pointed out it was the same Intercept that released documents furthering the lab-leak theory, that came rushing to Fauci's defense back in July, when Rand Paul had his way with him. It matters to the overall points listed below, I promise.

So, what does this mean? A few things:
- Even a leftist organization like The Intercept, while still playing defense for Fauci (he's not mentioned even once in their article released Tuesday), has to admit something is afoul.
- At some point it may happen the "lab leak theory" ceases to be theory.
- At a point further down the trail, maybe it wasn't just a "lab leak." Read between the lines.
- It's looking like the beloved Saint Fauci might not be so saintly. Hardly a surprise for me or anyone else who frequents this website, but might be a surprise to Fauci acolytes. Maybe. Religion is a hard thing to shake for these corona nut cases.
- Today is a great day for Rand Paul. Who was, as it's likely to be revealed, right all along about Anthony Fauci.
- "Trust the science" when applied to COVID-19 should no longer be applied. How can we possibly trust anything being told to us?
