Little Girl Sits on Father's Lap as He's Handcuffed. His Crime? Not Wearing a Mask.

When you see a video of a man being handcuffed with his little girl sitting on his lap, arrested for the crime of walking outside without a mask, I'd like to think it was too much for panic porn addicts. That they would finally realize they lost the plot. I'd like to think that. Then I make the mistake of reading responses to the video and see the number of people who are all like "that's what he gets for not wearing a mask." Outdoors. When the only person around him is his little girl.

If you guessed that this took place in Australia, duh.

It's Australia, so I guess we should look on the bright side. At least the little girl wasn't pepper-sprayed. Cops in Australia are known to pepper-spray little girls. The man is also lucky he didn't die of a heart attack. Something else we've seen from Australia. So, like, silver linings and all that.

The backstory leading to why he was handcuffed depends on who you believe. The cops say he was arrested because he was told to put on a mask but didn't. The man said he was arrested for filming the police questioning him about the mask. My belief is that he was a) arrested because of not wearing a mask, and b) that does NOT make the cops the good guys here. The hero is the passerby who filmed the encounter. If not for him, the man probably would have been taken to jail. And his daughter would have been taken to ... who knows? Knowing the way Australia has been lately, she might have become the property of the state.

America, here is where to gather around and take a knee. Let's watch this video together. If you think incidents like this AND ALL THE OTHER INSANE THINGS COMING OUT OF AUSTRALIA can't happen here, I'm guessing there are Australians who thought the same.
