This morning I had to Google "Kente," despite being educated in the People's Republic of California. So much for my big multicultural education. If the liberal school system also failed you: Kente is a woven cloth from Ghana, which is only warn during important times, usually by kings, according to Wikipedia. The term trended for a spell on Twitter because Democrats set their pandering to kill. They donned kente while kneeling for George Floyd, ahead of announcing a new measure to curb stomp police nationwide. Probably a poor choice of words, but if you're still here I figure you for a friendly and not a mobster ready to hate rage at me. I'll get into the details after burning your eyes with this next level cringe:
It's such a good thing I generally frown on whataboutism. If I didn't, I might traipse through history to see if Democrats held more than a minute of silence for the victims of September 11, the victims of the Boston Marathon bomber, the victims of any terrorist attack on American soil, or even the victims of a mass shooting. So if other people bother to look up those facts, don't tweet me at @Courtneyscoffs.
Also, since there's at least one dumb person out there about to criticize my criticism of the Democrats as an attack on the First Amendment, no. The Democrats are free to cringe it up as much as their genetics will allow. I feel like we're pushing the extremes here, but their bodies, their choices. We cool?
Second disclaimer: what happened to Floyd was awful. I've said that already. I shouldn't have to keep saying and in fact, after this, I'm done saying it. We shouldn't all have to repeat ourselves like Joe Biden just to placate mobs of stupid people.
Now, how is Democrats donning traditional garb worn by actual Africans, not black Americans, but legit Africans from Ghana, not a gross example of cultural appropriation? Sure, sure, to appropriate is to appreciate, but that's just what we do in June for Cultural Appropriation month at Louder with Crowder, the Thursday live stream at 8 pm Eastern time on YouTube.com/stevencrowder.
Shoot, where was I? Oh right, Democrats bellyflopping into the pool of cringe, backstroking their way to the hot tub of hypocrisy. The Democrats' pandering came ahead of their unveiling of a new bill which doesn't defund the police, but does such things as:
- Ban police use of chokeholds and carotid holds, and condition funding for state and local departments on barring the practices
- Stop the use of "no-knock" search warrants in drug cases in the U.S., while also making state and local money contingent on stopping use of the warrants
- Give the Justice Department subpoena power to carry out "pattern and practice" investigations into police department conduct
- Require training on racial bias and implicit bias at the federal level, and condition state and local funding on offering training
Among other things. Basically getting the feds more involved, not eliminating police unions, and not training police officers any better.
For the record, I'm not against police department reforms. But I am against toothless, gutless bills that are meant to signal virtue, strip police officers of tools they need to get the job done, and fail to be in anyway useful. I'm also against wearing extra fabric in the summer months, regardless of the color.
It's Monday. The week has only just begin. What's the over/under on how much dumber it'll get as it progresses?
