Silly me thought that Andrew Cuomo was going to be the biggest assclown in New York politics today. Instead, here's Bill de Blasio coming in clutch. You see, the way it's supposed to work in tracking COVID-19 is that "contact tracers" ask people who tested positive questions about who they know or if they have been social distancing more better enough. EXCEPT, they are NOT allowed to ask if the person attended a protest. AKA, an event where more than ten people were not social distancing.
The hundreds of contact tracing workers hired by the city under de Blasio's new "test and trace" campaign have been instructed not to ask anyone who's tested positive for COVID-19 whether they recently attended a demonstration, City Hall confirmed to THE CITY.
"No person will be asked proactively if they attended a protest," Avery Cohen, a spokesperson for de Blasio, wrote in an emailed response to questions by THE CITY.
"If a person wants to proactively offer that information, there is an opportunity for them to do so," Cohen wrote.
I guess de Blasio doesn't think people from New York City have spread the virus enough already.
Point of information: This was Brooklyn over the weekend.
