Dan Crenshaw Exposes the Truth About Democrats and "Police Reform"

Dan Crenshaw Exposes the Truth About Democrats and "Police Reform"

A blind toddler with Down syndrome could see where the police reform debate was going. "Police reform" in scare quotes. Ever since Chuck Schumer refused to even start a debate on Tim Scott's bill (see DEMOCRATS PROVE BLACK LIVES DON'T MATTER TO THEM, AND TIM SCOTT IS PISSED and POLL: AMERICANS OVERWHELMINGLY OPPOSE #DEFUNDTHEPOLICE). The House had a bill that was 80% the same as the Senate bill, only with a more better defunding of the police (leaving the word "defund" open to interpretation) and a ban on chokeholds. Which, contrary to popular belief, would not have saved George Floyd, because Floyd was not killed with a chokehold. He was killed because an asshole cop kept his knee on his neck for eight minutes. Side note, there was a time in America where we as a country were mostly unified that the cop needs to be brought to justice. That seems like years ago.

But this was never about actually reforming policing to the Democrats, as Dan Crenshaw points out.

In the Senate, Democrats wouldn't even debate Senator Scott's bill. Here in the House, Democrats won't let Republicans offer a single amendment. What reason could you possibly have for refusing to work with us? When America is demanding we work together toward common goals, why won't Democrats do so? This is sad, cynical politics. The speaker of the House would rather call Republicans murderers than work with us on solutions. But it was never really about police reform. Your eyes and actions are fixed on November.

Both sides agree on 80% of the bill. If the Democrats cared about police reform, or the black lives that police reform is supposed to save, they would vote on the 80% we all agree on, then debate the 20% we don't. Maybe see if we can come to some sort of compromise there. But again, Democrats don't about black or blue lives or any lives, for that matter. The only lives that matter are the ones that give them power. More people need to be woken up to that.
