When I was in middle school, we would kick chairs over in the cafeteria. The lunchroom would all chant "Dick! Dick! Dick!" We'd all laugh. That was a bygone era. Now, chairs are used by middle school students to assault teachers. And teachers return fire with chairs in self-defense. We've heard of teachers threatening to throw kids before, so throwing inanimate objects is an improvement.

No word on what caused things to pop off. Last October, the "Smack a Teacher" TikTok challenge was a thing. Maybe "Throw a Chair at a Teacher" is a new thing the kids are into. TikTok is weird. As are middle school students. All the police statement says is that the incident is being investigated.
The local news report from WFAA-8 doesn't provide much more details. Most notable is that the teacher needed to be treated by paramedics. We just know that the students threw the first chair, it hit the teacher in the head and opened up a cut. The school district issued a statement saying they were very disappointed in all involved and those responsible will be held accountable. Also, "unauthorized filming with the school setting and posting of such content online are violations of the DeSoto ISD Student Code of Conduct."
The assailed teacher has yet to speak out on the incident. When he does, I would guess it would be something along the lines of, "I'm too old for this sh*t."
