House and Senate Have Veto-Proof Majorities to Ban Russian Oil Imports, Says Congressman

That price at the pump might be getting even higher. As the war wages in Ukraine, US lawmakers have finally begun to realize we cannot attempt to sanction Russia into ending their attack while simultaneously funding their war effort through importing massive amounts of oil . And though Biden might be too mushy-brained to put two and two together, there are still a few functioning brain cells in Congress.
Representative Mike Turner (R-OH) told Newsmax on Friday that there are “absolutely veto-proof majorities” in the House and Senate to end the importation of Russian oil.

“This is about freedom. This is about supporting those who are fighting for self-determination. It's about our allies, and it's about threats to the United States. Vladimir Putin has openly threatened the United States. We certainly shouldn't be his customer while he threatens us on the world stage."
There’s widespread bipartisan agreement the US shouldn’t be sending millions of dollars to Russia each month via oil purchases. Turner points out that even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is on board with taking such action.
And outside our government, similar calls have been coming from some unlikely sources. Only a few days ago, Sunny Hostin of “The View” called for an increase in domestic energy production to relieve American dependence on Russian crude. And even understanding that it could potentially hurt his bottom line, Elon Musk took to Twitter to make similar observations .
The Biden Administration was hesitant to sanction Russian oil--as they were responsible for decimating domestic oil and gas production--choosing instead to deal a devastating blow to independent Russian porn bimbos , which I’m sure really hurt Putin’s ability to wage war.
Luckily, it looks like our Congress might be about to do something productive for once, but will they also act to restart oil production stateside? Will the Keystone XL be allowed to move forward? What about fracking? These questions are still unanswered.
If this goes through, though, I’d probably say goodbye to weekend joyrides for a little while. Gasoline is about to be worth more than gold.
