I don't know if Trevor Noah is secretly based. We know that he watches our show, and we know that rational thought isn't rewarded in late-night comedy. But every so often, flashes of having a reasonable opinion that contradicts the progressive narrative sneaks out. Like last night, when he discussed the remaining NYC COVID restrictions. And how unvaccinated NBA star Kyrie Irving can go to the game, but can't play in the game.
Trevor actually taught me something I didn't realize yesterday when I wrote about this. I thought New York City was just being stupid. As it turns out, there is a logic behind WHY New York City is being stupid. Mayor Eric Adams only lifted the vaccine mandate on attending events. He didn't lift the workplace mandate. So unvaccinated Kyrie Irving can attend a game at the Barclay's Center as a fan. But because he is on the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclay's Center is his place of work, he can't work there. Why? Because SCIENCE!
It shouldn't be newsworthy that an obvious thing was obvious to Trevor Noah. But he's a late-night comic, where his peers function as the propaganda wing of the White House. Jon Stewart went on late-night once to tell a brilliantly crafted joke, and he was accused of literally damaging science.
The lack of sense in the restrictions and "the science" are the obvious joke. It was also the funny joke. Those two things combine should not stand out as an exception to the rule. Yet, here wee all are.
