Five Things to Know About the #CubaLibre Anti-communist Uprising in Cuba

Five Things to Know About the #CubaLibre Anti-communist Uprising in Cuba

Over the weekend, the Cuban people took to the streets to protest the Communist government. This may be shocking to -ism stans like Bernie Sanders and Rep. AOC. Here are five quick things you need to know.

1. Communism, as it turns out, sucks, and the Cuban people have had enough of it.

Citizens in over 32 cities of Cuban are protesting the communist regime. Chants can be heard: "Down with Communism," "Freedom," and "Patria y Vida," which, translated, means "Homeland and Life." The demonstrators are demanding access to, among other things, foods, medicine, and vaccines. Most importantly, demanding an end to communism. Communist (and socialist) sympathizers in America believe the "right kind" of their preferred -ism hasn't been tried yet. That's because there is no right kind. It's also why people living in America who escaped communism speak out against it. There's a reason why pro-freedom protesters are flying the American flag as a symbol of their pro-freedom desires.

2. The Biden administration has only heard one word from the complaints.

Peaceful protests are growing in #Cuba as the Cuban people exercise their right to peaceful assembly to express concern about rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages.

The acting assistant secretary for Joe Biden's State Department would like you to know they stand with the Cuban people speaking out about *checks notes* concern about the 'rona. Ignoring the reason FOR those shortages and why people are really concerned. As of this writing, nothing from Joe Biden or Jen Psaki. But I guess we should be grateful they didn't send Dr. Fauci out there to lecture people.

3. The New York Times is who we say they are.

Shouting "freedom" AND OTHER anti-government slogans. To the New York Times, the concept of "freedom" is anti-government. It's not surprising the newspaper feels that way. Yet, still shocking that with all the ways to arrange words to form a sentence, they chose that way.

4. The government is starting to fight back.

NBC News is reporting that in a number of protest areas, "Internet service on cell phones has been cut off and news from the island is being interrupted." When you give the government power to do something, they use it against you whenever they can. Again, there is no good kind of communism.

5. Exhibit Q why gun rights are important

Look how quickly we go from the Cuban people not being allowed firearms to the Cuban government pulling a gun on protesters. That's not an accident. It's by communist design.

This is a developing story. At some point Monday, you'd have to assume President Biden will attempt to speak on the matter. The keyword is "attempt." He may get distracted and start talking about a Cuban sandwich. Either that or Jen Psaki will read a carefully worded statement to reporters with next to no follow-up questions.
