J.K. Rowling used to be a hero among progressives. Their very existence and sense of self-worth were based on the Harry Potter books. Those were the only books most of them read. Then Rowling made the decision to side with feminists over the transgender community. Trans outranks womyn on the progressive pound-for-pound most marginalized ranking. Rowling was told she could no longer sit at the progressive lunch table. To her credit, Rowling put two middle fingers in the air and stayed true to her convictions. Having a pile of f***-you money helps.
Yet still, transgender activists lash out. Including one threatening her murder.
The backstory here is absurd even by "assclown on Twitter" standards. An activist, out of the blue, implied that Rowling didn't care about pornography tweeted at children. Turns out, according to Rowling, when she asked for artwork from children, transgender activists started spamming the thread with pornography. Because when you want someone to take your movement seriously, that's what you do. Tweet porn.
Rowling hit back at the assertion.
I'm not sure how these tactics - using porn as a weapon against women you dislike, not caring that children get caught in the crossfire and then misrepresenting what really happened - are supposed to help trans people. Nor do I see how what you've done here helps correct the impression that the end game for you & your ilk is to intimidate women out of speaking up for our own rights.
A Rowling supporter tweeted a message of encouragement. Rowling responded to that tweet "together we will win." This is where the pipe bomb comes in. The insane person didn't threaten to kill her themselves. But if someone else had put a pipe bomb in Rowling's mailbox, that person wouldn't feel bad about it. This ignores the fact that when someone thinks you're a terrorist, threatening them with terrorist acts tends to no get your point across. Go figure.
To her credit, Rowling STILL didn't back down.
To be fair, when you can't get a woman sacked, arrested or dropped by her publisher, and canceling her only made her book sales go up, there's really only one place to go. Now (that) hundreds of trans activists have threatened to beat, rape, assassinate and bomb me I've realised that this movement poses no risk to women whatsoever.
Once again proving that out of everyone involved in this entire brouhaha, J.K. Rowling still has the biggest balls. That's even before her haters had theirs chopped off. Or, allegedly chopped off. I think some of them still pretend.
I'm curious to see if everything that's gone on has changed Rowling's perspective on other issues as well. The people who defend her, those of us on the right, think she should have the right to an opinion. The people who hate her, her former allies on the progressive left, think she should die.
