Silver linings are important. As tyrannical as our government has felt during the pandemic, the silver lining is we aren't Canada. At least, not yet. In Canada, they will raid your homes for having too many people there. There are camps they send you to for disobeying their corona orders. And their guidelines for isolating children are inhumane. Also, pastors can get arrested for holding church services. That's what happened to Artur and Dawid Pawlowski.
According to the government funded Canadian Broadcassting Company:
On Saturday, Artur and Dawid Pawlowski were charged with organizing an illegal in-person gathering...
Church.
...inciting or inviting others to attend an illegal gathering...
Going to church.
...as well as promoting and attending the gathering.
We're still taking about church.
In a release, police said the Pawlowskis "acknowledged the injunction, but chose to ignore requirements for social distancing, mask wearing and reduced capacity limits for attendees" and went ahead with the event.
Sure, technically they were "breaking" a ... I don't even know if we can call it a "law." They were emergency guidelines put in place "for the public good" that vary in how draconian they are. Everyone needs to decide at what point they are going to ignore unjust laws with civil disobedience. For Artur and Dawid Pawlowski, that time was now. You might say they serve a higher power than the Canadian government.
Justin Trudeau may not think that. God probably disagrees.
