It's really hard to hate Chip and Joanna Gaines from HGTV's Fixer Upper. Unless, you're a half-a-commie, blogging, leftist douche weasel. They can hate Chip and Joanna for, among other things, believing in Jesus and not returning Buzzfeed's phone calls. Also, it would appear, "funding" opposition to Critical Race Theory. Before you get excited and scream "hell yeah, brother" there's a catch. One that won't be clear when this starts trending and triggering boycotts from people who have never watched the show.
It starts with a Jezebel post headlined: "Fixer Upper Couple Donates $1,000 to Texas School Board Candidate Trying to Ban 'Critical Race Theory'." Or "funds" as was originally, and more explosively, titled.
If and when this starts trending (most likely when), that will be what trends. They're funding a candidate who hates Critical Race Theory. And good for them for doing so. They're parents and taxpayers who don't think we should be teaching kids how to hate each other. But in this one instance with this one specific candidate, there's a less explosive reason why they are donating.
This time it's Shannon Braun, a candidate for a school board in Grapevine, Texas, and the sister of Fixer Upper star Chip Gaines. Perhaps unsurprisingly—but still notably—Chip and his wife and co-host Joanna Gaines have both donated $1,000 to support her campaign.
I see. They aren't donating to a cause as much as they are donating to a FAMILY MEMBER who is running for office. That's somewhat less controversial.
The blogger then seems surprised how Chip and Joanna can do such a thing when they've donated to African-American charities before. I'm guessing the blogger would be just as surprised that African-American parents and Asian-American parents would oppose taxpayer-funded hate in schools as well. All because leftists have devised a new scheme to divide and isolate groups of Americans into groups and play them off of each other, that doesn't mean those Americans have to play along.
None of this is to say Chip and Joanna DON'T oppose Critical Race Theory in schools. They might. They might not. Their politics isn't something that comes to mind when the rerun of them doing a house for MXPX's frontman comes on. But this "news" today doesn't confirm that they do. Just that they donated to Chip's sister.
