I get that bars and pubs have been closed for a few months. I understand that they needed to get creative in order to reopen (see A MARYLAND RESTAURANT HAS A SOCIAL DISTANCING SOLUTION: BUMPER TABLES and THIS NEW ZEALAND BAR CELEBRATING THE END OF CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS SHOULD BE AMERICA). I'm also very anti-flipping out on service workers who are just doing what they have to do based on tyrannical government policies. But if I'm at your establishment and get electrocuted while getting a pint, Imma wild out on you.
Yes, a bar in England put an electric fence around the bar just in case people were only five feet, eleven inches away from each other. Which if someone can explain to me how this isn't banned when everything else in England seems to be, I'm listening.
Quiet pint on my holidays and end up being interviewed by the BBC about an electric fence in the pub to enforce soc… https://t.co/t2mT9gKQHK— Kevin Travers (@Kevin Travers)1594643066.0
"Before the fence, people were not following social-distancing and were doing as they pleased, but now people take heed to the guidance around social distancing."
Most of the time it stays off, but of the bar gets too crazy inside, it will be switched on.
A few lads were shocked over the weekend after admittedly downing too many pints.
On what planet is this a good idea? In a FREAKING BAR of all places?!
Because let's set aside the fact that if people aren't listening you can just tell them to leave. Sober Brodigan reading this at 3:27 on a Monday afternoon thinks this is a terrible idea. Drunk Brodigan at 12:21 in the morning after he's been pounding Claws and shots all night is going to see someone get electrocuted, laugh his ass off, and think it looks like a challenge. That's if I don't stumble onto the fence myself. Which again, Imma wild out on someone once I regain feeling in my legs.
If you are that much of a COVID panic porn fetishist, don't open the bar in the first place. Or just make people drink outside. It's not like you don't have other options.
Isn't it cute how a bar, A BAR, is suddenly concerned with people's health?
