WHOA: Threats Prior to Shooting at Michigan High School Were Downplayed by Administration

It’s always heartbreaking to hear about school shootings. The senseless ending of life often by those whose lives have barely started to shape, as well, is a tragedy requiring serious investigation into the cause. But while there are those who will immediately jump to calls for “common-sense gun control,” even though this shooting was performed with a pistol, rational people should look elsewhere for answers.

It turns out, in this case, the school’s administrators had advanced warnings indicating threats to the school and student body.

The young man in the interview with the local news affiliate says there have been threats via social media, and rumors of threats to shoot up the shoot floating around the school. And just as he describes—and as can be seen in the announcement posted by the school—these threats were downplayed instead of investigated.

I can’t say for certain that an investigation into the threats could have stopped this terrible event, but I can say that it didn’t help.

The public schools are failing our children in every way imaginable. If it isn’t brainwashing them, it’s sexually grooming them, and if it isn’t that, they aren’t working nearly as hard to protect them physically. These institutions are broken, and we shouldn’t be handing our kids over to them day after day.
