One of the multitude of ways we've solved racism this year is by shaming white actors for voicing non-white cartoon characters. Yes, in order to make a serious statement on police brutality in the wake of George Floyd, we are now judging actors by the color of their skin and not the content of their funny voices (see THE WHITE GUY WHO DOES THE VOICE OF CLEVELAND ON "FAMILY GUY" QUIT, AND I GUESS THAT MEANS WE'VE CURED RACISM and HANK AZARIA: STEPPING ASIDE FROM APU IS "THE RIGHT THING TO DO"). One actor who thinks this is silly is Harry Shearer, who has been with The Simpsons since 1989 and up until recently was the voice of Dr. Hibbert. You know, one of the black guys. As opposed to all the yellow guys. Which isn't an asian thing. It's just the dominate skin pigment in Springfield.

Shearer says this goes against his one basic rule of acting:

I have a very simple belief about acting. The job of the actor is to play someone who they are not. That's the gig, that's the job description.

You would think so, huh? Not to mention I can't be the only one who, even after watching The Simpsons since the 80s (literally), can identify who does what character. I was even shocked to find out that legendary rock icon Derek Smalls was this voice of this guy:
