New York State PBA President Michael O'Meara wasn't taking the media's narrative that all cops are racist killers looking to hunt black people. He stepped up to the mic and delivered a short rant the media will ignore, but that you need to see and spread like COVID fear.
We all read in the paper all week that in the black community, mothers are worried about their children getting home from school without being killed by a cop. What world are we living in? That doesn't happen. It does not happen! Everybody's trying to shame us. Legislators. The press. Everybody's trying to shame us into being embarrassed of our profession.
He's right to say the entire police force nation wide shouldn't be condemned over the actions of a few. Which, by the way, applies to every single profession which some attempt to tarnish over the actions of a few.
He's also right to point out how cops have been killed, many of them black, over the past few weeks during the Antifa and Black Lives Matter riots and "peaceful" protests. If we're all concerned about lives, preserving lives, especially black lives, one would think cops like David Dorn being killed would matter. Apparently it doesn't when there's a narrative afoot.
Derek Chauvin's actions were, in O'Meara's words, "disgusting." He's not wrong. But the entire police force shouldn't be painted with Chauvin's brush as an excuse to riot, burn, and kill.
