Twitter has once again suspended Steven Crowder's account (@scrowder) without explanation. This previously happened on February 23, also without explanation, but the account was reinstated after twelve hours. Attorney Bill Richmond will be on Louder with Crowder on March 11, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern to give a legal update on Twitter's violation of its own rules. Richmond will also be explaining how this is a violation of California law that falls outside any Section 230 protection.
I'm going to walk you through a timeline because it gets peculiar. Crowder received a notification on March 9th at 9:43 a.m. Central, informing him of a twelve-hour suspension. The suspension would have started around 10:00 a.m. Central.
No further explanation was given. No specific tweets were highlighted as being in violation. No tweets were removed by Twitter. The only communication from Twitter was that the account would be suspended for twelve hours.
Another "Rule Violation Notice" was received on March 9 at 3:16 p.m. Again, without identifying any specific tweet that violated Twitter's policies.
As of 4:02 p.m. on March 9, Twitter said the account would be fully restored in five hours and forty-two minutes.
On March 10 at 5:10 a.m., the time until Crowder's Twitter account was to be restored INCREASED to six days and nine hours. Again, no specific tweets were mentioned that broke any of Twitter's guidelines.
Then at 8:03 a.m., it was increased to six days and twenty-one hours. Still no explanation or identification of the offending action. Still no separate notice from Twitter about a new or existing violation.
As of this writing, there has still been no communication from Twitter about what rules were violated or why a week was added to the original same-day suspension.
