Donald Trump Seeing a Surge in Black Support Just Before Election Day

Donald Trump Seeing a Surge in Black Support Just Before Election Day

Donald Trump's support among black voters, particularly younger black voters, has always been interesting to me. For someone who the media spent four years painting as Racist McHitler, Trump has seen more black support than recent Republican candidates, and his campaign is actively reaching out for the support. That's probably why the media tries so hard to paint him as Racist McHitler. He's even gotten some love from the hip hop community in the past week (see DID ICE CUBE REALLY WORK WITH DONALD TRUMP ON A 'BLACK AGENDA'? THE FACTS ... and RAPPER 50 CENT ENDORSES DONALD TRUMP AFTER LEARNING JOE BIDEN'S TRUE PLANS). Or at the very least, they're saying "I don't hate Trump as much as I hate the other guy."

FiveThirtyEight says that while Trump has lost some white support, he's gained support among hispanic and black voters. One poll even shows his support among African-Americans has doubled from 2016. There's also this.

Maybe it's the debate performance. Maybe the Hunter Biden stuff is starting to resonate. Or, maybe it simply what Charlamagne tha God — who is in no way a Trump supporter — points out.

It's because Trump is actually talking to young black male voters. He is directing ads toward them. They are a group that never get courted. I mean, black people don't get courted either as a whole. But that old democratic regime speaks to old black men. Trump is targeting young black males from marketing. It works.

What this means for Election Day, I honestly don't know. The only people confident in the accuracy of polls are the pollsters who need them to be accurate so they can still have jobs. The rest of the country? I know I'm not willing to bet money on the results. But people have said for years that if the GOP could start chipping away at Democrats support among voters of color, it would be game changing. We could very well be seeing this with Donald Trump.
