The concept of cancel culture is a foreign one to many of us, mainly because we're busy living our best lives of not being a pathetic waste of a literal douchebag. Where when we see someone say something we disagree with, we let out a collective "meh" and move along (see BARSTOOL PRESIDENT TELLS LEFTISTS WHERE TO STICK THEIR CANCEL CULTURE. IT'S THE ONLY APPROPRIATE RESPONSE. and COMEDIAN CALLS OUT LIBERAL VICTIMS OF CANCEL CULTURE: 'THIS IS WHAT YOU IDIOTS WANTED!'). Other people — generally liberal people — view things differently and feel that jokes that miss the mark, statements that you maybe should have thought through, and the occasional actual crime are grounds for you be disappeared. You simply being allowed to exist causes them physical pain.
Or so I thought. As comedian Ryan Long points out, it's actually a game where you earn money. Kind of like playing the stock market. Only instead of investing for retirement, you're saving up for when people realize what a horrible person you are.
