So much horrible news these days, what with the pandemic and people freaking out about the pandemic (see James O’Keefe Visits COVID-19 Testing Center, Talks to People on Frontlines and SEATTLE: Anti-Abortion Nutcase Screams Bloody Murder to ‘Relax’). So here is a feel-good story for your week. A woman successfully defended her home from a burglar by popping a cap in his ass. All while she was on the phone with 911.
A Deltona woman shot a serial burglar in her home early Tuesday morning, the fourth home the suspect is believed to have tried breaking into, Volusia County sheriff’s officials said.
The woman shot the suspect, Joseph Roberts, 32, in the arm after warning him several times to get out of her home while on the telephone with 9-1-1 dispatchers about him, investigators said.
Roberts is charged with four counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling and four counts of criminal mischief.
Here’s why this is important and also, why it’s troubling when some local governments try to say that gun shops aren’t an “essential business.” People are panicked. When people panic, they do panicked things, like breaking into someone’s home. Maybe this guy was a junkie who couldn’t get his fix. Maybe the guy couldn’t find any pasta or toilet paper in the supermarket, so he tried stealing some. You need to be able to protect your home. Because, as this story illustrates, the police can’t always get there in time.
