Originally this was titled "Trevor Noah Says Dumb Things." But that could be an infinite topic. Today's idiocy deals with the U.S. census. What happens every ten years is that people living in blue states get tired of being taxed to death, so they move to lower-taxed red states. Then proceed to vote for the same politicians who will raise their taxes. It's not always the best and brightest migrating, basically. This year, California and New York are each losing a congressional seat because of it, while Texas and Florida are both gaining.
This seems CRAZY to Trevor Noah. As does the population dropping. Which, for some reason, is Ted Cruz's fault.
Aside from New York getting screwed, the big news out of the census is that America's population grew at the slowest rate since the 1930s. Basically, immigration is down and the birth rate is falling, primarily due to this photo.
He then holds up a photo of Ted Cruz. Get it?! Because it's a picture of Ted Cruz. And people hate Ted Cruz so much that they aren't having sex any more! "People" being defined by whoever wrote this joke and all the progressive NYC douchebags they know. It's comedy for a niche audience. So niche, I forgot to laugh.
Senator Cruz has been known to appreciate a good joke. He has also been known to hit back.
Trevor Noah whines that people are fleeing high-tax blue states & moving in droves to low-tax states like Texas, where the jobs are.
Doesn't understand why people like freedom.
Also predicts the Biden years will be the Great Depression.
Whoever runs The Daily Show Twitter account thought mentioning that one time Ted Cruz went to Cancun was a witty comeback. Again, there's that niche audience again. Cruz responded by harkening back to a bygone era. One where the Daily Show was actually funny.
I wear your scorn with pride.
I remember when the Daily Show was funny.
What's troubling is that while Ted Cruz is the victor and this was a nice break in the day, the Daily Show could very well get the last laugh. Because the congressional seat worth of Californians who moved to Texas mostly likely moved to Austin and Austin-adjacent areas. Where, if history is any indication, they will proceed to vote for the same progressive d!ckheads that caused them to leave California. Which would then turn Texas into California. Because people are dumb.
It's your move to not let that happen, Texas. The rest of America is counting on you.
