Secretary Pete Buttigieg: Hey, How About Mandatory COVID Tests Before Domestic Flights?
Brodigan - February 09, 2021 at 08:23AM
COVID is real. Wear a mask. Follow the other guidelines. Okay? Okay. Because we're going to ask questions about something 'rona-related. Whenever that happens, there's always an assclown to narc you out to Facebook as a virus denier. An alleged assclown. I'm sure they don't think they're an assclown, and it's good to provide both sides of the story.
Pete Buttigieg was just confirmed as transportation secretary. I guess he broke some kind of glass ceiling being the second openly gay Cabinet official after Richard Grenell. Number two is the perfect way to describe this asinine new idea for travel. A reporter asked Buttigeg about mandating a COVID test before flying domestically. Secretary Pete didn't hate the idea.

Well, there's an active conversation with the CDC right now, what I can tell you is this going to be guided by data, by science, by medicine, and by the input of the people are actually going to have to carry this out. But here's the thing, the safer we can make air travel in terms of perception as well as reality, the more people are going to be ready to get back in the air.
An active conversation to mandate American citizens must provide test results to fly? Because as far as horrible ideas go, that ranks between mandating three masks and coronavirus-hunting robots . Let's think about this for a second. Flying can already be a miserable experience. The airlines have already been hit hard because of the pandemic. As has the economy, because of the lack of people flying. So now the plan is to make traveling more difficult and more miserable. Just because science says so. Far be it from me to argue with science or disagree with data. But if I need to get tested before flying? I'm not going to waste money flying. I can't imagine I'm the only American who feels that way.
Which brings us to a reoccurring question: When is it enough? Some people had enough on day three of fifteen days to flatten the curve (hi Courtney). We needed to temporarily wear masks, though it's beginning to sound indefinite . Is needing to prove your health over one specific virus in order to fly enough? Or will it be enough when they then claim you can't leave the state in your car? We're told it's all because of this one specific public health crisis. What when it's another "public health crisis," like climate justice? Because the Biden administration is already laying the groundwork there .
I don't have the answer. Actually, that's not true. I have more than a few answers. But, we're playing by Facebook's rules for now . I'll leave YOU to decide when YOU think enough is enough.
