The Smiths are in a panicked PR clean-up after Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock on stage. It would appear that while assaulting someone over a joke is popular on Twitter, it's frowned upon IRL. In the real world, physically attacking someone for words makes you the bad guy. Go figure.

As part of the clean-up, Jada Pinkett Smith wants you to believe she didn't want it to happen. According to a source close to US Weekly, “It was in the heat of the moment and it was him overreacting. He knows that, she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted."

Yes, I realize US Weekly is a tabloid akin to the National Enquirer and CNN. But that same source goes on to say that Pinkett Smith is "not one of these women that needs protecting." She is also "a strong woman" who "can fight her own battles." But rest assured, she will stand by her husband. This is just speculation, but if I were to guess, US Weekly's source is Jada Pinkett Smith talking through a tin can to hide her voice.

Let's recap. Chris Rock told a joke at the Oscars. Will Smith found it funny. Jada Pinkett Smith, a strong woman who doesn't need a man to fight her battles, didn't find it funny and gave Will a look. Will then decided it wasn't funny and assaulted Chris Rock for telling the joke. Also, and this is key, Jada Pinkett Smith LAUGHED while it happened.

Yet, according to a source to US Weekly, Jada Pinkett Smith wishes it didn't happen and felt it was an overreaction. Also, it was her husband's overreaction and not hers. But she stands by Will anyhow. Will, you attacked a man and threw your career in the crapper to appease her. Please, whatever you do, don't blame Jada Pinkett Smith for any of this.

Sure. Why not? Let's go with that.
